Transcript of English 10 Poetry Presentation Ed Sheeran

Lego House by- Ed Sheeran Ed Sheeran released the song Lego House in 2011. Sheeran's third single from his debut album + finds him using a Lego house as a metaphor for a relationship. "I'm gonna pick up the pieces and build a Lego house, if things go wrong, we can knock it down," he sings. The song's music video was filmed at the Forum, University of Hertfordshire and features Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint as an obsessive fan. Sheeran told MTV UK that it was Grint's Harry Potter colleague Tom Felton who was responsible for his starring role in the clip. "Tom is a fan of my music and started tweeting me, so I just took a chance and he hooked it all up," he explained. "It's all down to him." Lego House (audio) I'm gonna pick up the pieces, A

One quote from the lyrics that supports my answer is, "I'm gonna pick up the pieces, and build a lego house, when things go wrong we can knock it down." I feel this lyric supports my interpretation because I think his relationship with whomever the song is about is like a lego house, and if things go wrong they can end it, like you would do if you were making a house out of lego's. I think the message of the song is if you truly care about someone or something you should stick around and be there for them or it, I think the story that Ed is telling is that he was probably with someone (dating) and was unsure about it. Interpretation: I'm gonna pick up the pieces,
And build a lego house
when things go wrong we can knock it down

My three words have two meanings,
there's one thing on my mind
It's all for you

And it's dark in a cold December, but I've got ya to keep me warm
and if you're broke I'll mend ya and keep you sheltered from the storm
that's raging on

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
and of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind
I'll do it all for you in time
And of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

I'm gonna paint you by numbers
and colour you in
if things go right we can frame it, and put you on a wall

And it's so hard to say it but I've been here before
and I'll surrender up my heart
and swap it for yours

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
and of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind
I'll do it all for you in time
And of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

Don't hold me down
I think my braces are breaking and it's more than I can take

And if it's dark in a cold December, I've got ya to keep me warm
and if you're broke I'll mend ya and keep you sheltered from the storm
that's raging on

I'm out of touch, I'm out of love
I'll pick you up when you're getting down
and of all these things I've done I think I love you better now

I'm out of sight, I'm out of mind
I'll do it all for you in time
And of all these things I've done I think I love you better now Rhyme Scheme I think the song Lego House by Ed Seeran is a narrative poem. The reason why I feel that this song is a narrative poem is because, Ed is telling a story with the lyrics from the song. In the song Lego House the quote that supports my interpretation is, "I'm gonna pick up the pieces, and build a lego house." I feel that this quote supports my interpretation because he is telling what happened in the song like someone would tell a story. Ed is telling you what all happens throughout the song.
