The Evolution of Rap Music
Transcript of The Evolution of Rap Music
What is rap music?
What does it sound like?
When Was It Invented
Rap Music became its own genre of music around the late 1970s and early 1980s. But Rap was born long before that. In the 1600s Africian American people would tell stories to a beat of a drum around camp fires. This form of story telling is know as the very first form of rap music
Where Was Rap Invented
Rap music was born in Africa But was given its name in the crime-ridden neighborhoods of the South Bronx.
There were about ten important people/bands involved in the start up of rap music. They all claim to be the originators. There names are Pete DJ Jones, Kool DJ Herc, DJ Hollywood, Eddie Cheeba, "Love Bug" Starski, Grand Master Flash, Afrika Bambaataa, Kurtis Blow, the Sugarhill Gang, Run DMC. The names fit together like pieces to a puzzle. And as we assemble the puzzle, we have to give equal props to all, because it is the individual contributions, pieced together, that explain the true history.
How Did Rap Change Over The Years
Rap had six sub-eras so far
Each of those sub eras fit in to these four eras. Each era is differnt from the last and the next. The lyrics are differnt and the chore of the beats, and sounds are different. Not to mention the sterio typical part of rap.
During this time period the only form of rap on the earth was heard of in Africa. Native african tribes would tell stroies around a fire to the beat of a drum. Here was where rap was born
During this time period rap took a little nap. It became unheard of because of world wide issues that effected african americans way of living.
During this time period rap developed fully. It started in the streets, clubs, and high schools of South Bronx. By 1980 rap was one of the only thing you heard in up neat clubs, and in the run down parts of the cities in America.
During this time rap spread across the world. Many troubled teens had some type of rap in there recent play lists. Parents and the goveremnt did not like this form of music due to the stories and life hat was based around it so they tried to shut it all down but it was too late the genre had become to big and over powered the people who hated it. It became on of the top 3 preferred genres
Many rap legends were born in this period such as Big Sean, Eminem, Wiz Khalifa, and Lil Wayne.
