A camera may work with the light of the visible spectrum or with other part of the electromagnetic spectrum.

The lens of a camera captures the light from the subject and brings it to a focus on the film or detector.

Camera lenses are made in a wide range of focal lengths.

The camera's focus is the process of adjusting this range.

The exposure control is for controlling the brightness of the scene and the amount of light that enters the camera during that time.

There are two types of shutters. Those are leaf shutter and the focal-plane.

Plate camera were simple box cameras for glass plates but also single-lens reflex cameras with interchangeable lenses

Early rangefinders had two separate viewfinder windows, one of which is linked to the focusing mechanisms and moved right or left as the focusing right is turned. The two separated images come together on a ground glass viewing screen.

In the single-lens reflect camera the photographer sees the scene through the camera lens.

Chapter 5: Types
The CMOS active pixel sensor "camera-on-a-chip" developed by Dr. Eric Fossum and his team in the early 1990s achieved the first step of realizing the modern camera phone as described in a March 1995 Business Week article.

The first commercial camera phone complete with infrastructure was the J-SH04, made by Sharp Corporation, had an integrated CCD sensor.

A digital camera (or digicam) is a camera that encodes digital images and videos digitally and stores them for later reproduction.

Nikon is a Japanese Multinational corporation headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, specialized in optics and imaging products. Founded in 25 July 1917 as Nippon Japan Optical Industries Company.

Canon is a Japanese multinational corporation specialized in the manufacture of imaging and optical products.

How does the image get on the screen? This was our research question. It is very important to know that the digital camera is all about light. It is revolutionized photography by transforming light into electricity. What the digital camera does with light is what makes it so revolutionary. It turns lights into electrical charges that become the image capture on the screen.
Johann Zahn was first to proposed a hand-held device with a mirror reflex mechanism design that would later be utilized in photographic cameras.
In 1826 was the first permanent photograph of a camera image made by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce.
Alphonse Giroux built the first photographic camera created for commercial.
