Transcript of Fossil Fuels

What Happens When We Burn Them? FOSSIL FUELS Conclusion When we burns fossil fuels we can harm the environment in a BIG way.
Burning fossil fuels can cause acid rain, global warming, oil spills, and air and water pollution. All of these things are VERY bad for the environment. It affects the air we breathe, water we drink, and damages the ecosystem. Damaging the ecosystem will affect the lives we live for many years to come. In the US we use about 17 million barrels of oil every day. If you think that is bad 86% of US energy comes from fossil fuels. What Can You Do About It? What are Fossil Fuels? by Trisha Minocha Fossil Fuels are nonrenewable forms of energy from a million years ago. They come from underground and will not last forever. Coal, natural gas, and oil are fossil fuels.
We use fossil fuels to heat our homes, get our cars running, and to get power.
We use fossil fuels to our advantage, but do you know what effect we have on the environment when we burn fossil fuels? Burning fossil fuels causes a lot pollution. This pollution causes global warming by causing the earth to get warmer. Look for renewable sources of energy such as solar power, hydroelectric power, wind power, and biofuels. These renewable resources do not cause pollution.
There are also many things you can do to help. You can conserve energy. For example you could turn off the lights when you don't need them or take shorter showers. See its easy to help! This graph shows how much of each fossil fuel we use in the US I hope you enjoyed my prezi!
Remember to conserve energy!!! Time is running out!
It is our world and we all have to do our part to help. As you know burning fossil fuels effects the environment in a big way. But you also know what you can do to help, so conserve energy to save the environment and the world!
