Transcript of 商朝
During the Shang Dynasty the weather was usually arid and cold, yet it was easy to grow crops. They could tell what the weather would be the next day by listening to animals.
If the people can clearly hear the cricket chirp at night, it can be predicted that the weather next day will be fairly good.
If the dragonfly flies up and down in the sky, there will be heavy rain.
If the anthill is closed, that means a thunder storm is on the way.
The most fascinating object that the Shang Dynasty made was the Lunar Calendar. The lunar calendar is the calendar that determines the day Chinese New Year, and Mid-Autumn festival is. In the calendar, a regular year would have 12 months and 353-355 days, while a leap year would have 13 months and 383-385 days. The calendar also tells you what zodiac you are.
During the Shang Dynasty, there
were multiple wars. They often fought with neighbouring barbarians with an army more than 10,000 strong, most
being peasants. The peasants would be armed with stone weapons and a leather helmet, while the noble would equipped with bronze armour and weapons. If someone trespassed, they would execute them, causing war. They thought the East, North, and South of the civilization were barbarians and a threat. The farming people along the Yellow river were considered a threat to. War did not make the shang stronger, just weaker. The
wars lead to the biggest conflict
that the Shang dynasty had...
The Battle of Muye.
The Shang dynasty was located in Northern China. Most of Northern China was covered by The Shang Dynasty. There was many mountains and a river, called The Yellow River. They used the Yellow River to divide The Shang Dynasty from the rest. At the end of the river there was a small plot, and they used the plot and made a city/village. The village was one of the many capital cities they had. The last capital city they switched to was 殷墟
also known as Xiaotun village in Anyang City and Henan Province.
