How We Are Being Socially Reponsible:
Taking a Stand
America cherishes its freedom of thought and speech. But Sterling's comments were so nakedly bigoted that demands intensified for the Los Angeles Clippers owner to pay a heavy price for his views,

"We can't remove racism from American society any more than we can remove murder," Edwards said. "But just because we can't remove it, that doesn't mean we shouldn't fight it."

He thinks that Sterling's punishment is appropriate, and sends a powerful statement: "Such ignorance cannot and will not be tolerated."

audio recording of Sterling's comments was leaked, with Sterling telling his girlfriend things like, "it bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you're associating with black people," it provided an easy opportunity to address a longstanding issue.

What bothers me about this whole Donald Sterling affair isn't just his racism," he wrote on Time magazine's website. "I'm bothered that everyone acts as if it's a huge surprise."

English: Racist Views Exile Sterling from the NBA
Many people were upset about how Sterling was desciminate towards blacks even though he's offered support towards them. As his consquence for his actions, Sterling is fined $2.5 million for his federal lawsuit of excluding blacks and hispanics from his rental properties. Not only that, but Sterling has lost his privelege of being the owner of an NBA Los Angeles Clippers.

This topic is important to society because:
Many people suffer from discrimination
Society becomes immune to what people are saying
People see this in media, but don't do anything about it
Eventually will cause a world protest against each other
Hate speech can lead to hate crimes

We are taking a stand by creating a Youtube video informing about Hate Speech in Social Media to making others aware about this serious problem. We decided to make a video because after searching videos on Hate Speech in Social Media we realized that there wasn't many and the ones that were there were just of adults talking and it was very confusing to understand their coversation. We made it simpler to understand and straight to the point.

Hate Speech started in the 1920s with an Article called:
"The Internatinal Jew, The World's Foremost Problem,"
by Henry Ford. In 1927, an American-Jew lawyer named Aaron Sapiro filed a federal libel lawsuit against him [Ford] and his anti semitic newspaper. Ford was not able to get away because Sapiro and his lawyer responded with a broader claim that Ford had libeled all Jews, which lead to the First Amendment. It was also said that Ford was the only American that was in Adolf Hitler's book "Mein Kampf" saying, "I regard Henry Ford as my inspiration".
Now that technology has upgraded big time today, it has been easier for people to post what they feel or beleive. Not only by texting but also on social medias like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, you name it! So don't think you can get away with hate speech because the First Amendment doesn't accept disrespectful sayings what so ever!
