Foundation Drive Italy Nürnberg/Renaissance Last Years Core Albercht Dürer Apprenticeship Albrecht Dürer Albercht made many paintings for wood block printing like the apocalypse series. Later a Venetian artist Jacop de Barbari came to Nürnberg he influenced Albercht with Renaissance properties like Proportion, anatomy, and perspective. Albercht took this as an opportunity and began studying this topic. Albercht left Nürnberg which was plagued with sickness and left for Netherlands with his wife and maid in tow. Traveling to many cities creating plenty of drawings with silver point, chalk, and charcoal. Later returning back to Nürnberg with an illness that took him to his grave. Albercht was never a writer but before he left he wrote two books one about perspective and the other about geometry opening a doorway for other artists to use Renaissance paintings styles, his death was in April, 26 of 1528. he was the third child of his parents Barbara Dürer and Albercht Dürer the elder. who had about fourteen to eighteen kids. He died in April 6 1528. He is known as the greatest German Renaissance artist. Albercht Dürer was 13 years old when he showed his artistic talent by producing a wonderful self-portrait. Later years he produced 3 more self portraits. His godfather who was a printer and publisher Interested him in wood carving. Woodcarvings caught Albercht' s eye because they inspired him to produce his own. At the age of 15 Albercht was producing magnificent pieces. His talent was recongized and he became an apprentice for Michael Wolgemut. IN 1468 Albercht became Michael Wolgemut' s apprentice. He practiced painting and woodcarvings. After 4 year of apprenticeship Albercht learned all he could from his master and produced better quality than his master and exceed his master. Wolgemut advised Albercht that he should travel to meet more artists and widen his experience. Albercht took his masters advice and set off to meet more german artist before going to Italy. Travel His first trip was to Nördlingen Where he met artists from the swabian school. Here he learned different types of painting techniques. Dürer's next trip was to Ulm where he met more Swabian artists. After departing from Ulm Albercht made his way to Constance where he found a fairyland apperance. His next stop was Basel which he said was quite simillar to his hometown Nürnberg. Before returning home he visited Colmar and Strasbourg on the way. After returning back to Nürnberg, Albercht met Agnes Frey daughter of a merchant. Later they were married. This marriage was arranged by Albercht's parents during his absence. In autumn, 1494 Dürer took his first trip to Italy, he stayed there till spring in 1495. This trip had a strong influence on Albercht, he studied the work of Givoanni Bellini and Monteagna and other artists. After he returned Albercht opened his own workshop and used his skills he learned in Italy to produce magnificent works of art like the Revelation of St. John Series, and one of his most famous paintings 'Young Hare'. His second trip to Iatly included staying in Venice and Florence longer periods.
