Transcript of Powtoon

A tool to create animated "Presentoons", presentations A tool/resource for educators and students to use to present new material. Educators and/or students can use Powtoon to create animated slide shows or movies. Powtoon is still a relatively 'new' program. It was released in July, 2012. What is it? How to create a Presentoon Why use it? To make presentations more engaging, inviting, and interesting. Sample "Presentoon" How are educators using it? Educators are using this new animation to present new information. They also use it as a tool to assess students' knowledge by having students create their own "Presentoon" to express what they have learned. Sources Used powtoon.com prezi.com Concerns This is still a very new program, and is still adding more backgrounds, characters, and animations. At this time this program is not extremely beneficial to teachers because it is very limited with how/what a teacher can present. It is extremely easy to make the videos, but is still very limited. Other reasons why teachers are using Powtoon http://www.scoop.it/t/teachers-rock Educators are also using Powtoon as a way to "flip" the classroom. "Flipping" the classroom allows the students to watch a video teaching the lesson, and then allows the students and the teacher to spend more time doing hands-on projects and problems based on the information students watched at home. http://www.scoop.it/t/teachers-rock It is free!
Can be upgraded for more video time and animations! Step 1: Create a Script
Step 2: Add background music and voice over
Step 3: Divide Slides
Step 4: Populate slides by adding backgrounds, graphics, and animations
Step 5: Timing Each step is described through a video found at http://www.powtoon.com
