Adam Smith was a Scottish political economist and philosopher. Smith was the son of the Comptroller of the customs at Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland.At the age of about 15 he entered Glasgow university, studying moral philosophy under " the never-to-be-forgotten" Francis Hutcheson. In 1751 Smith was appointed professor of logic at Glasgow University, transferring in 1752 to the chair of moral philosophy.In 1759 he published " Theory of Moral Sentiments." This established Smith's reputation in his own day, is concerned with with the explanation of moral approval and disapproval. At the end of 1763 he obtained a job as a tutor to the young duke of Buccleuch and resigned his professorship. Shortly before his death smith had nearly all of his manuscripts destroyed.
What he is Famous for....
Adam Smith is famous for his book "the Wealth of Nations " I mean he is famous for a lot of things but that is what he is most known for. In the western world it is the most influential book on the subject ever published. When the book, which has become a classic manifesto against mercantilism, appeared in 1776, there was a strong sentiment for free trade in both Britain and America. The new feeling that had been born out of the economic hardships and poverty caused by the war. Smith has been blamed for relying too much on the ideas of great thinkers such as David Hume and Montesquieu. However, "The Wealth of Nations" was the first and is still the most important book on the subject political economy even to this day.
He is known for.....
Adam Smith is usually described at 'the founding father of economics'. A great deal of what is now called standard theory about the theory of markets was developed by Adam smith. After "Theory of Moral Sentiments", he founded a foundation for a general system of morals.It was a very important text in history of moral and political thought. The foundation also provides the ethical, philosophical, psychological, and methodological aspects of Smith's later work.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion Adam smith was known for a lot of things especially his books and the foundation that he founded after his book was published. He was so famous that he was often known as the "founding father of economics".
