Test Review!!! This is helpful for the test Cell Membrane: Forms barrier between cytoplasm and outside of the cell. Cytoplasm: A gel-like fluid between the cell membrane and the nucleus. Nucleus: The "control center" of the cell controls all of the cell's activities. Endoplasmic Reticulum: The passageway for the cell that carries materials throughout cell. Golgi Apparatus: receive proteins and newly formed materials and ship them out. Ribosomes: produces proteins. Mitochondria: takes energy from food molecules and uses to perform functions. Lyosomes: break down food and worn-out particles. Vacuoles: store water, food, and waste. Organelles in Animal cell Characterization of Life:
