Sarah Afghan Engagements The women of Afghanistan go about unveiled, and a young man may choose a partner for himself without the aid of a match-maker, or even of his parents. If some girl takes his fancy, all he has to do is to cut off a lock of her hair or throw a sheet over her, and proclaim the damsel his bride. He must then make a bargain with the father before he is allowed to take her to his home. Arabic Courtships `The choice of a marriage partner is one of the most important decisions a person will make in his or her lifetime.Dating does not exist among Arab, men and women do not enter into relationship. Arab courtship is made by parents for their children. There are more than one way, one of that ways is an arrange from the parent’s choice- to find spouse for their son or daughter. If the parents don’t find a spouse, they asked a matchmaker to find some one with the right characteristics. That is one way from many ways that Arabs do. Chaplee Kabob- Spicy ground beef patties mixed with onions Chopan kabob- Pieces of Lamb chop marinated in special herbs and spices and broiled on a skewer. Wedding clothing Wedding dress Wedding reception Wedding reception Marrage customs The Afghan president Hamid Karzai ordered a review of a new law that states that marital rape and resticted womens rights could be legalized. The common age for marrage for a women is 18 years old. The day before the wedding the bride and her family go to a Henna party. The grooms family provides the Henna party. The children of the grooms house sing for the brides house during the Henna party. The day of the wedding, the bride goes to a salon with her female family members and she sits at her fathers home waiting for the grooms arrival.
