Transcript of Beethoven

Style Period: Baroque
Ludwig van Beethoven was baptized in Bonn, Germany on December 17, 1770. He considered his mother as his best friend while his father was a musician at the court of Bonn. Out of the 7 children in the family, only the 3 boys survived beyond infancy. Beethoven's musical talent was discovered at a young age and first performed at Cologn at the age of 7. Among Beethoven's musical teachers were Gottlob Neefe, Haydyn, Albrechtsberger, and Salieri. At age 12, he had already become organist of the court of Maxmilliam Franz. He was the sent to Vienna to meet Mozart. Ludwig began to suspect that he was going deaf in the year 1801. 8 years later, he wanted to leave Vienna, but consented to stay with the offer to be paid 4,000 florins a year, becoming an independent composer. Later, his "employers" passed away. When Ludwig's brother Kaspar Karl died, he took over the responsibility of caring for his nephew. 12 years later, after composing some of his greatest works, he caught a cold and passed away on March 26, 1827.
"Music is the one incorporeal entrance into the higher world of knowledge which comprehends mankind but which mankind cannot comprehend."

"Music is the wine which inspires one to new generative processes, and I am Bacchus who presses out this glorious wine for mankind and makes them spiritually drunken."

"Only the pure in heart can make a good soup."

"Recommend virtue to your children; it alone, not money, can make them happy. I speak from experience."
