Interesting Facts About The Renaissance and Reformation

Raphael (The artist of this) paints over 21 famous figures of history in this painting. The arrow points to who is believed to be Raphael
Leonardo da Vinci purchased caged birds just to let them free
Michelangelo laid on his back for hours while painting the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel
The phrase "It's raining cats and dogs" originated from this period because home owners would allow their animals to walk on the roof and when it rained the animals sometimes fell off
Hunting was a form of entertainment for the wealthy. The poor did not have enough free time to go hunting.
With the invention of the printing press, book collecting became a craze.
The first paintings with depth arose during the renaissance. Before this, paintings were on a flat background
The Medici family held power within the church because of their outstanding wealth. (This still happens in churches and governments today.)
Leonardo da Vinci
wrote most of his notes backwards and can only be read with a mirror.
If you were wealthy during this period you would wear one or two colors while the poor wore multiple dull colors.
