Budgets We allow our returning students to reclaim space for the next year January through March We do not have a "live-on" housing requirement for any classification of student
Some universities require first-year freshmen to live-on campus
Others require freshmen & sophomores to live-on campus Housing Assignments Process Staff Recruitment and Selection A Great Example: Follow either SPA recruitment guidelines or EPA recruitment guidelines.
SPA: Subject to the Personnel Act; Employees protected.
EPA: Exempt from the Personnel Act; Work at will with an annual contract. Expectation to be fair to all applicants and hire the most qualified candidate.
•Search Committees; Use of Consensus; Telephone Interviews; On-Campus Interviews. Residence Hall Safety: Card Readers on all Residence Halls RA on Duty nightly, from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. RC (full-time, master degreed staff member) 96 staff members live in the residence halls with on duty nightly from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. our resident students to respond to their 24-hour needs Front desk coverage 24 hours a day Student Coverage from 8 a.m. - 12 a.m. regular rounds through all residence halls Campus Police PAC'N Officers perform Professional security coverage 12 a.m. - 8 a.m. Fire Safety is our #1 priority Students should ALWAYS know the rules for the following: Alcohol

Our staff completed 15,307 of these maintenance requests.

We require each of our 80 Resident Assistants to facilitate 8 programs per semester for their residents Must follow guidelines developed by the Office of State Personnel and enforced by each campuses’ Human Resources Office. Housekeepers are contract service employees. An outside company is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising these employees. We require a 24 hour, seven day response from an on-call housekeeper. Stress management

Expectations to Maintain Residential Facilities Many variations exist nationally in how students are assigned to on-campus housing spaces We limit the number of transfer students we will offer contracts to (this represents a guarantee of housing). We guarantee housing to any freshman who is accepted to UNCW and completes a housing contract by May 1st Our typical goal occupancy is full occupancy (4,143 spaces) & 80 students assigned to temporary housing (50 females and 30 males)

Director of Housing and Residence Life I am a Democratic Leader/Participative Leader. I offer guidance to my staff and value their input and creativity. In addition, I collaborate with my staff. My style is a repertoire of the following: Visionary, Coaching, Democratic, Pace-setting, and Motivating. I meet weekly with my directors, use written agendas, and trust them to do their jobs. Any decisions that I make I do so after listening fully to my staff. Leadership is less about my needs and more about the needs of my staff and our department.
