Anything created by humans to make life easier and solve problems.

example: plumbing
basic need - water (all humans need water to life)
*Humans used to go to a water supply and gather water for survival.
solution - the Romans invented plumbing to bring water to them

Technology is...
The purpose of technology...
...involves a combination of elements or parts to complete a task.
When the parts of a system work together, they accomplish a goal.
Technology System Model
The
“inputs”
to the system provide all needed resources to accomplish the goals of the system.
General inputs to technology systems are...people, knowledge, time, materials, energy, fixed capital/equipment, and money.
The
"processes
" of the system is the area of the system where action take place to achieve the goals.
The
“output”
of a system is the goal to which all of the inputs and processes are applied -- forming the
"result."
Feedback
information can be transferred back to any position in the system for evaluation to see if things are going as planned.
Technology System Parts
The application of knowledge to satisfy wants and needs and to extend human capabilities.

A branch of knowledge pertaining to engineering and applied science.
