The Outsiders Summary
The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is a book about a young boy who learns a lot about life and his self. Ponyboy is one of the members of the Greaser gang and fights with the Socials (Socs) often. One of the major fights is when Johnny kills one of the Socs to save Ponyboy’s life. Johnny and Ponyboy realize what they have done and decide to run away and hide in an empty church in the country.
While they are away, the church happens to catch on fire and Ponyboy and Johnny risk their lives to save the children trapped in the fire. After pushing Ponyboy out the window, Johnny gets stuck from the ceiling falling on top of him and Dally reaches through the window and pulls Johnny to the ground. From Johnny’s injuries, he eventually dies and Ponyboy tries to convince himself that Johnny is still alive. Ponyboy finally gets relief by writing a book about what has happened and how it changes his life.

The Outsiders Recommendation
I didn’t like my summer reading book, The Outsiders, by S.E Hinton, because it was sad and I enjoy books that are happier. One of the first disturbing moments was when Johnny was jumped and gets hit by a Soc who had a bunch of rings on his hand. I don’t like violence and people getting hurt. Another moment in the story is when the church catches on fire. This is sad because, children were in the church when the fire started. The worst part of the story is when Johnny dies after rescuing the children from the fire. He was one of the main characters and it was tragic to see him die. I would not recommend this book to people who don’t like serious books.

The Outsiders takes place in Oklahoma.
In my opinion, the turning point is when the fire occurs at the church.
The resolution in the story is when Ponyboy wrote a story about the book we have read because this is how Ponyboy gets over his feelings
