Subsidies Payments to private businesses by the government the government lowers the cost to do something, this allows the producer to make more of his product. In turn the producer will have greater profits However, subsidies have a cost, and someone has to pay for them. That someone is tax payers. Some examples include: subsidies given to farmers for their crops, and basically any situation that involves a business in need of financial help that will in the long run better the economy
