Your Ears!
Nails!
Hair! We need to talk about HAIR!
Skin!!!
Gross Skin
We're growing
up!
Cleaning your body!
Help Pac Man Eat Up the B.O.!
What's that Smell?
We're going through lots of changes!
Inside and Outside!
WHAT?!
Outside you can see you're getting taller and getting permanent teeth, but on the inside, you're starting to produce hormones!
Hormones are chemicals that tell your new sweat glands to start working causing us to be more oily, and have rancid smelling sweat!
So, let's talk about how we take care of the "problems" that puberty can cause.
Because as far as I know, no one WANTS to smell bad. So lets look at ways to keep that from happening!
What is the largest organ of the human body?
Why do we have skin? I mean, what does it really do anyway?
So if it does all of those things, and it's that big, it must be important, right?
SO KEEP IT CLEAN!
How, exactly, are we supposed to clean something so big and so important to keep us healthy, and smelling good?
Start with the most basic thing. WASH YOUR HANDS!
Frequently.
... With warm water...
And soap... The whole process should take about a minute... That's not that long... So it shouldn't be that hard!
Someone, please tell me the proper way to wash your hands... And when we should do so...
Sweat, or perspiration, comes from sweat glands. The chemical make up of your sweat is changing though. That is one of the reasons it smells.
When sweat meets bacteria on the skin, that's when we have big smelly problems, bacteria makes the sweat smell even worse!
Your entire body has eccrine glands that have been making sweat your whole life. Now you've got apocrine glands producing sweat in your arm pits and groin area!!
So if we smell so bad from sweat... How do we fix it? I mean, I don't want to smell bad!
PLEASE take a bath or shower AT LEAST once a day!
Seriously, remember that you have to use soap.
Don't skip out on washing body parts... They all get dirty and they all get to smelling gross, so wash EVERYTHING!
And after you shower/take a bath, please do not put dirty clothes back on. That doesn't even make sense to get clean and then put something dirty on... You'll just smell like you did before the shower!
Please put deodorant/antiperspirant on after you shower. Just because you washed your arm pits doesn't mean the smell of soap lasts for ever!

Also, when are some other good times to put deodorant on?
If you don't take care of your skin... What kind of skin conditions might you end up with??
The number one skin condition you will notice is acne. Are all pimples considered acne? No, but all acne is made up of pimples!
You can thank your new sweat glands and hormones again for pimples. Your glands will now produce sebum, which is what causes the pimples. It's an oily substance that comes out through your pors.
Can you think of anything else caused by dirty skin?
Other gross skin infections and issues include:
MRSA
Impetigo
Boils/Abscesses
Folliculitis
Cellulitis
Acne...
Other skin
Infections...
Folliculitis
Cellulitis
Some skin infections, like folliculitis and acne, can turn into cllulitis or MRSA.
So what about other parts of your body? Like your ears and your finger nails?...
EAR WAX IS NORMAL!
DO NOT put anything into your ears! This includes Q tips!
Wash the outside and just inside your ear with a warm wet wash cloth.
If you get something stuck in your ear, let your doctor get is out, not anyone else!!!
So we covered the ears, what about the nails again?
KEEP THEM CLEAN!
Raise your hand if you think this is gross.
The longer your nails, the more dirt and bacteria that can hide there!
This is also true for toenails!
What all do you think gets under those nails throughout the day??
Now, can we please talk about your mouth?
Seriously, who wants to smell someone's nasty breath?
NO ONE DOES
So tell me how we prevent and take care of bad breath...
The number one way, is to prevent tooth decay!
Give me some ways to prevent tooth decay...
Now let's list some ways to treat bad breath after we already have it... from whatever the day throws at us...
Have we covered everything yet?
This seems like a lot of stuff to remember!
How often are you supposed to wash your hair any way?
What shampoo should I be using?
Do I have to use conditioner?
Just be sure to rinse EVERYTHING out, otherwise, we'll be able to see the leftovers... and that's not good!
Name a few other things that can help with hygiene...
Now let's review everything!
Wash your hands frequently.

How and when?
Take a bath or shower at least once a day!

When are some other good times to shower?
Keep your fingernails short
and clean!
WASH YOUR HAIR!
Wash your face!!!
And other parts of your body when they get visibly dirty!
Brush your teeth at least twice a day.
Floss every day.
Visit a dentist twice a year.
Wear clean clothes...

AND DEODORANT!
IF YOU DO ALL OF THESE
THINGS, THE PEOPLE AROUND
YOU WILL APPRECIATE IT!

JUST AS YOU WILL APPRECIATE THEM DOING THESE THINGS!
So that smell,
could be you!
Ok, ok hormones do other stuff too,
but lets focus on your awful smell...
