Definition of Rising Action Definition of Falling Action Rising Action- The action in a play, story, etc. before the climax The part of a story, etc. where the suspense is being built up. Examples of Rising Action Rising Action Falling Action In the movie Tron when Sam Flynn (the main character) went into the program and began his first battle we did not know whether he was going to win or die. Falling Action- All events following the climax or turning point in the story. The part of a story, etc. where the results of the action take place. Where the story comes close to an end. Examples of Falling Action In the Hunger Games when everyone was killed and Katniss and Peeta were the only two left we knew that the conflict was resolved and the movie/book was coming to an end. Activity Get in groups of three or four.
Name some examples of rising and falling action in any book, movie, etc. "Ladies and gentlemen, I am pleased to present the victors of the Seventy-fourth Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark!"
