-These cells follow instructions and produce products
-They also contain many organelles that have different jobs which benefits the cell all in different ways. Nuclear Envelope Eukaryotic Cells can be represented in many analogies. In this case, the plant cell can be related to a car. --------------> Nucleus The engine of a car is like the nucleus in a eukaryotic cell because it is the control center of all the cell's activities, the same way the engine of a car controls what is going on in the car. Cell Membrane The cell membrane is like the doors and windows of a car because it supports and protects the cell by controlling what goes in and out of the cell. The locks on the doors of the car have the semi-permeable characteristic by controlling which types of materials enter the car, just like the cell membrane. Mitochondria The mitochondria is like the car battery because it converts the chemical energy stored in food into compounds that are more convenient for the cell to use.
The battery in a car is like this because the "juice" in the battery supply power to the starter, allowing the engine to run. This organelle gives power to the cell. Cilia The Cilia is like the drive line in a car because it is a structure made of micro tubules that are used for the motion of the cell. The drive line also controls the motion of the car by connecting to the wheels to provide motion. The nuclear envelope is the hood of the car , just like the nuclear envelope that surrounds the nuclei, that determines what moves in and out of the nucleus. The hood covers the engine. Vacuoles Vacuoles are like the trunk of the car because vacuoles store materials like water, salts, proteins and carbohydrates. A trunk is like this because it stores all the materials in the car also. Cytoskeleton is like the base of a car because it keeps gives structure, shape and support to the cell. Golgi Apparatus The Golgi Apparatus is like the license plate producer of the car. It is that because the license plate producer is the one who customizes the car; just like when the Golgi Apparatus modifies, sorts and packages proteins customizing each cell. Ribosomes Ribosomes are the controls between the driver and the car (lever, steering wheel and pedals) because that is where the direction/speed of the car is determined. The same way the proteins are assembled on ribosomes. Cytoplasm The cytoplasm is just like the pipes that surround the engine because the cytoplasm also surround the nucles. Cell Wall The cell wall is like the outer shell and body of the car because it is the supporting layer around the membrane that also shapes and protects the cell. Chloroplast Chloroplasts are like solar panels in solar energy cars because they both absorb energy from the sun and convert it into energy to benefit their structure. Flagellum The Flagellum is like the gas pedal in the car because it accelerates the car to move forward; just like the flagellum uses the its "whip-like" structure to move the cell. Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum The rough endoplasmic reticulum is like a gas tank because a gas tank holds the gas just like a rough endoplasmic system holds lipid components and assembles them. Vesicle The Vesicle is like the gas pipes that transport the gas from the gas tank to the engine. the function of a vesicle is to transport substances within the cell.
