Education
For music therapy, you must complete a bachelor’s degree in music therapy and participate in an internship program. Then, you must write the certification exam offered by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT). Successful candidates earn the title Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC). For art therapy, you must obtain either a master’s degree in art therapy or a master’s degree in a related field with an emphasis on art therapy.

What is it?
Recreational therapists help patients overcome emotional and physical problems by giving them a creative outlet with art or music.
What do you do?
Assess clients and plan treatments, help clients express their emotions through art or music, interpret and discuss clients’ art or music, monitor clients’ progress, take notes, and prepare reports, art supplies or musical instruments

Pay
The entry wage of a recreational therapist is $40,170, median wage is $47,430, experienced wage is $57,800.
