Refraction of Light
PRISM is a transparent, solid body, often having triangular bases, used for dispersing light into a spectrum or for reflecting rays of light. Triangular prism refracts the twice – once when it enters the prism and again when it leaves the prism and reenters the air. As a result of these different amounts of bending,
the different colors are separated when they emerge
from the prism.

Reflection of Light
The Law of Reflection states that because light behaves as a wave, it obeys the law of reflection. The angle at which a light wave strikes a surface is the same as the angle at which it is reflected.

Mixing Colors
Opaque: Material that absorbs or reflects all light. It is the most solid of the three.
RAINBOWS are any brightly multicolored arrangement or display.
Rainbows are often found in mists, waterfalls, or fountains. In a rainbow, the human eye usually can distinguish only about seven colors clearly. Those colors are red, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.
A mirage is a naturally occurring optical phenomenon in which light rays are bent to produce a displaced image of distant objects or the sky.
Mirages often occur in deserts or on really hot days.
Often looking like a pool of water, though it isn’t really there.

The blue cup is opaque, the green is translucent, and the clear one is transparent.
Regular & Diffuse Reflection
Regular reflections are produced on smooth surfaces. Diffused reflections aren't so clear. They're produced on rough surfaces like jagged bricks. The light that bounces off rough surfaces goes in many directions while regular reflections just bounce parallel from the actual image.
How are colors made? Depending on the wave length of light it reflects, the colors may vary. When an object appears white, it is because it reflects all the light that hits it. When an object appears black, it absorbs all the light.
Colored Filters
Have you ever looked through a colored window or glass? When you do, is your sight somewhat the same color as the glass? That's because since there is a transparent colored object in front of you everything past it is the same color. It's quite simple, it's kind of like if you cover a camera lens with a colored filter. When you take the picture, it seems to be the same color as the filter.
Light & Eyes
In healthy eyes, light enters the retina and are transferred into nerve impulse. From there, it is transmitted into the brain. Cones and rods are the two cells that respond to light. Dim light goes through rods. Bright lights go through cones.
Mixing Colors
Colors are made of pigments. A pigment absorbs and reflects some lights. When mixed together, pigments may appear black. Why? Because it absorbs every color in there. There are three primary colors: red, green, and blue. Different combinations and amounts of each make different colors.

Translucent: Material that allows some lights to pass through, but not enough to see objects clearly through it.
Transparent: Material that transmits almost all the light striking it so that objects can be seen clearly through it. Clearest of the three.

Problem Statement:
What type of light travels the farthest?

If sunlight, a laser, and a flashlight are reflected off a mirror, the laser will go the furthest since it’s the strongest.

1. Set targets up ten feet apart from each other.
2. Test mirror and each light producer by aiming at target.
3. Each time light hits the target, use a further/next light producer.
4. Take notes on which goes the farthest.

The laser hit all targets without the light fading into nothing. The flashlight however, faded too much before hitting the last target.

The laser goes farther because its light is stronger.
