Founded: 1636 by (Clergyman)Thomas Hooker

Major Industry: Agricultural (wheat,corn, fishing)

Major Cities: Hartford, New Haven

Became A State in: February 8, 1788


Connecticuts Landscape
Land was rocky, mountainous, rocky, treed, and had almost no soil for farming.
The settlers were able to grow beans, corn, pumpkins, squash, rye, anda little more.
Natural resources iclude, fish, whales, timber, and some forms of food.
State Facts
The state song in 'Yankee Doodle',and is used to this day.
The Hartford Courant
, which was made in 1764, is still used and running today. It is the longest running newspaper in U.S. History.
The motto is, 'He who transplanted shall sustain.'
Connecticuts Founding
Connecticut was founded by Clergyman Thomas Hooker
The founder/settlers were puritans, and could not stand any religions.
In 1614 Adrian Block was the first to explore the Connecticut Valley.
The soil was bad for farming, but the settlers were able to grow food.
