Doctor By: Hanna Tumbo what is Doctor? Doctors make people healthier. When people get sick, doctors figure out why They examine people, listen to them describe their health problems, and do tests to see what is wrong. They give people medicine and other kinds of treatment. They also give advice about diet, exercise, and sleep. Working Conditions Education & Training Doctors work in a number of different areas and settings. Family practitioners deal with a wide range of patients and illnesses, and can often be found working in community-level offices and clinics or in their own practices. Applicants to medical school must first complete at least 3 years of college, as this is the minimum admission requirement for many medical schools. Doctors often work very long hours, especially at the beginning of their careers. Most average between 9 and 12 hours a day, or 50 to 65 hours a week. Medical school takes 4 years to complete and leads to a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Once the MD is obtained, graduates must complete a residency program. 1st Block Mrs.Bizzell what Doctors Do? www.competency-based-training.com www.poems-of-my-journey.blogspot.com A doctor’s first responsibility is to diagnose patients’ injuries and illnesses.
