= medium of communication


multimedia is a combination of content forms:
text
audio
still images
animation
video
interactivity


What is Multimedia?
Multimedia is the presentation of a computer application incorporating media elements such as
text, graphics, animations, audio, and video.

Multimedia is
any
combination of digitally manipulated text, graphics, sound, animation
and video.


*uncommon until mid-90's due to expensive hardware needed to run applications

Captured Media - information types captured from the real world (still pictures, moving pictures, sound)

Synthesized Media - information types synthesized by the computer (text, graphics and animation)

Discrete Media - media involving space dimension only (still images, text, and graphics). Also referred to as static media.

Continuous Media - media that is time-based (sound, moving images, and animation). Also referred to as dynamic media.
