It all started at Liberty High School in Henderson, Nevada. Alexander DeLeon and his friend Cash Colligan made a Myspace page, putting in all their demos they recorded together. Thats when they decided they should start a band. Drummer, Alex Johnson, was playing in a local band and was asked to join The Cab. By late 2005, the band was complete with Alex DeLeon as the lead singer, Paul Garcia as the gutarist, Alex Marshall knowing how to play the piano and guitar, and Alex Johnson as the drumer.
All band members graduated a little after their signing with the local label "Olympus Records". Later on, they were signed to a more known label, which will be mentioned throughout this powerpoint. They now have four complete albums, but with changes to some of the band members as they went along.
Where did I get my information from?
Current main members are:
Alexander DeLeon- Lead vocalist
Joey Thunder- Bass guitar
Alex Marshall- Guitar, piano, backing vocals
Extra members for tours only:
Dave Briggs- Drums
Chance Chantry- Guitar and background vocals
Biographies on each member...
Alexander DeLeon was born on April 8th, 1989 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is currently 24 years old and is still the lead singer of The Cab. Alex can play the piano and guitar but for the band, he chooses to sing most of the time. Alex was the one who wanted a band and decided to start it out in high school, along with his friend Cash. Cash later left the band because he thought it was time for him to move forward even if he really did have a lot of fun in the band.
Along with being the lead singer, Alex also is responsible for writing most of the songs for the band, along with some help from all members. He dedicates his time to music and loves his fans.
Joseph Thunder was born on August 28th, 1989 and is currently 24 years old. He is from the Las Vegas region as well as Alexander DeLeon and currently is the bassist for The Cab. He only entered the band in 2009 and was present for their last album, "Symphony Soldier", released in 2011.
Joey also appears on their new music
video of the song "Endlessly", featured
on the album mentioned above. The music video was only released a few months ago even if the full album came out in 2011.
Alex Marshall was born on June 28th in, 1989 and just like the other members, he is also 24 years old. Alex has been in the band since 2005. When Alex DeLeon was looking for band members, Marshall showed up with his talent. Both of them are really close since they've known each other since the band started. Marshall plans to continue to let music be apart of his life and loves being apart of this band.
Shortly after Alex joined the band, The Cab was signed to a record label and later signed to Decaydance Records.
Decaydance Records also signed many other famous bands such as, Fall Out Boy, Hey Monday, and The Ready Set.
Album releases, Record Labels, and Tours
Their first album, "Glitz and Glamour", was just something to test out and joke around with, since they were new to the music business. This album has special meaning to them since their first songs they had written together are all on here. Lead singer, Alexander DeLeon, stated that this album will always have a special place in their hearts. The album was released in 2006.
"Whisper War" was released in 2008 and that's when more people came in contact to their music. This album was #1 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart and it stayed there for 17 weeks. Singles from this album were: "I'll Run", "One of those Nights", and "Bounce".
"The Lady Luck" was released on June 30th, 2009 and ony features 6 songs. One of the songs, "Take my Hand", features Cassadee Pope, lead singer of the band "Hey Monday". Although this album reached the US Billboard Top Heatseekers albums chart, it gained less than moderate success.
"Symphony Soldier" was released in 2011 and contains 12 songs. The Cab became very known after this album came out and many people found their music addicting and meaningful. People find this their best album because during the songs, you can hear all the different instruments being used. Many artists also participated in writing some of the songs on the album. Bruno Mars helped Alex DeLeon write "Endlessly" and Pete Wentz helped write "Grow Up and Be Kids".
The Cab was offered a record deal from Universal Republic Records and they are currently still with them. This record label also signed many other artists like Owl City, Kelly Rowland, Ariana Grande, and Austin Mahone.
The Cab has participated in over 100 shows and tours altogether. They have toured with and opened for Neon Trees, Avril Lavigne, Train, Maroon 5, Parachute, All Time Low, Cassadee Pope, The Summer Set, Simple Plan, Forever the Sickest Kids, Cobra Starship, and more.
