- Global Audience (friend & foe) Credible Reliable Timely Accurate Social Media: The Way Ahead 1stLt Nicole Fiedler Goal: integrate social media into reliable and accurate Corps communication efforts that build understanding, credibility, trust & relationships with the audience. Objectives:
Increase public knowledge of MCSC
Increase transparency
Protect reputation in social media space
Improve issue identification
Improve decision-making through feedback
Help the workforce and families communicate & deliver support Who we are trying to reach dictates which social media site we use to project the information Facebook is not our only option! A successful FB site requires 5-7 postings a day; the unique structure of MCSC will have challenges supporting this requirement. OPSEC is also a concern.
What are our other options? Keep in mind: It's not just about who "likes" us...it's about virality. The Way Ahead Twitter/blogs do not require daily posting to be successful and can be used to link official MCSC stories (On Point & marines.mil) Broaden your audience by making relevant Facebook posts on already well-established Marine Corps sites Blog using DODLive. Tell the MCSC story, explain the acquisition process, and highlight projects. - eMarine

- Family support blog that stems off the MCSC blog

- Family support group on Facebook. Only those invited can join the group, protecting the PII of the family in an online community, as well as OPSEC for the Command Keeping Faith with Our Families Unlimited potential...

http://marinecorpssystemscommand.dodlive.mil/ -Social media must be sustainable: to maintain successful social media sites, ALL thirteen Program Management Offices will need to support with content.

-Posts can be scheduled through Hootsuite, a social media management platform that allows Corporate Communications to be the final approving authority.

-Bandwidth issues. Currently working with CIO to find solution. Remaining concerns Thank
You How will the MCSC Diversity Awareness Program Operate? The Executive Director will champion the MCSC Diversity Awareness Program with the 3 Major Tenets of: 1. Awareness, Education and Increased Understanding of Diversity Challenges and Opportunities through Special Emphasis Efforts Focus will include Special Emphasis Months/Days as recognized by Presidential proclamation 2. Active Correlation with Our Business Practices 3. Accountability A comprehensive strategic human capital plan is critical to the ability of all Federal agencies to carry out assigned missions and properly manage their diverse workforces

Metrics will ensure the Command’s Diversity Awareness Program yields positive results over time Lead/sponsorship for each special emphasis month/day will be rotated among senior leaders

Measures specific to the accountability of leadership for execution of the Command’s Diversity Awareness Program Executing the Command’s Diversity Awareness Program is the responsibility of all Command organizations In Accordance with Commander’s Intent, Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) will establish a Diversity Awareness Program in FY12 to achieve the following objectives: Execute MCSC’s 2010-2014 Strategic Plan, Goal 2 -“Continue to build a high performing, skilled and diverse workforce"

Increase awareness and understanding of the benefits of diversity throughout the Command

Promote a culture of inclusion, cooperation and respect

Foster an environment where diversity is valued and each person is appreciated for their individual contribution

Nurture a well qualified, diverse workforce that reflects our Nation’s diversity A comprehensive strategic human capital plan is critical to the ability of all Federal agencies to carry out assigned missions and properly manage their diverse workforces The MCSC Diversity Awareness Program will foster a deeper understanding and acceptance of the unique talents, knowledge, cultural background and life experiences each individual brings to our team “We will make concerted efforts at attracting, mentoring and retaining the most talented men and women who bring a diversity of background, culture and skill in service to our Nation.” JAMES F. AMOS
Commandant of the Marine Corps ? Why Establish a Diversity Awareness Program? Balanced Diversity is a BUSINESS IMPERATIVE Merriam-Webster: “the inclusion of different types of people in a group or organization”

U.S. OPM: “… we define diversity broadly, including, but not limited to, the legally protected categories. Diversity encompasses all that makes us unique, including the diversity of thought and perspective that accompanies our identity. Only then can we realize the full performance potential and harness the innovation that diversity offers. This is more than a legal or moral imperative, it is a business imperative for public service…”

Diversity in the workplace has many aspects, including, but not limited to race, ethnicity, age, sex (including pregnancy or gender identity), sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic status, veteran status, family structure, and even academic/professional knowledge and experience What is Meant by Diversity?
