"I definitely think homework should be banned. It's very difficult to balance school and sports for students who have many extracurricular activities, and it is sometimes too much to keep up with homework in 5 out of 8 classes. Last year when I student managed for the baseball team, I went to nearly every game and didn't get home until late and by then you have no desire to do homework or you have completely forgotten about it. I really had no idea how much athletes have to put up with, and I really feel for them. Homework also discourages people from wanting to learn. All they care about is getting it done and then they pay no attention to the subject matter."
-Tyler Hilbert
"I think that teachers should realize that homework is unneccessary. We have so much homework everyday and I can't imagine how I would do it if I was in a sport right now or had a job. Some nights I do homework from the time I get home until the time I go to sleep."
-Jenna Hollingsworth
"I do feel that homework is essential in order to practice the skills and continually intake the information being taught by the teacher. However, at times, the amount of homework expected to be finished on school nights can be overwhelming and sometimes impossible to be completed effectively. I think the best way to make homework less strenuous on students is teacher coordination in order to divide homework and tests so that the students do not have so much homework and/or tests to study for in one evening. By doing this, students would have much more times to devote to their assignments or studying in order to be prepard for the class."
-Arin Shatto
"I think there should be a system set up where each subject gives homework/tests only on certain days that way all the subjects aren't giving out homework and requiring studying all at the same time. This could lighten the workload on students."
-Kyra Goff
"I don't think that homework should be completely banned, but there needs to be a limit on how much teachers can assign. Some homework is required just to cover the material (ex: AP Literature we have to read several books and don't have time in class for all of it). I don't think kids should have more than 30 minutes of homework a night."
-Tori Anderson
"Homework should be minimized at least because we have eight classes. That means we have homework in most of those classes that results in lack of sleep and makes us tired for school the next day where we will then get more homework. "
