Gaetano Donizetti Donizetti started writing
music after he had lessons from many
different music teachers. Including the famous opera composer Simon mayr. Donzetti was in the army at first but after he composed some of his first operas and they were spectacular they removed him from the army so he could devote all his time to music. During the years 1822-28 he composed many operas, most notable comedies in the classical style of Gioachino Rossini, but his music is not heard today very often. He was a very great composer in less then 25 years he had already created over 70 successful operas that were phenomenal. The speed that he worked was considered legendary to many composers and people. This is a link to one of his operas :

is Lucia di Lammermoor. although his most recognizable song is the aria "Una furtiva lagrima" from L'elisir d'amore The youngest of three sons, Donizetti was born in 1797 in Bergamo's Borgo Canale quarter located just outside the city walls.
