Ecuador Presentation for Missions Conference
Transcript of Ecuador Presentation for Missions Conference
HCJB also translates and produces culturally relevant versions of English-based Christian programs. Since so much of the globe is connected via the internet, this medium becomes a strategic way to engage listeners with the gospel. HCJB Global Voice is using the Internet to broadcast programming in key areas of the world – many of which are closed to traditional broadcasting. Often the Internet is a key opportunity to deliver content to those who cannot openly listen. HCJB staff also uses methods made possible by the Internet to interact directly with listeners worldwide. In addition to the hospitals, HCJB has seven family practice clinics in both urban and rural locations across Ecuador. Their primary purpose is to serve the poor with quality healthcare and sharing the gospel. The purpose of the community development department is to provide preventive and curative healthcare for people in rural regions and those who could not easily take advantage of HCJB hospitals.
Community development includes:
Mobile medical clinic ministry
Tropical disease/parasite laboratory
Clean water projects
Programs to train rural health workers At the request of national partners, HCJB sends emergency response teams to the site of medical emergencies and disasters worldwide. They provide basic medical treatment and aid.
HCJB Global has sent medical teams to the following countries: Committed to using media to reach the peoples of the world with the Gospel. What Will We Do? Through satellite, HCJB Global Voice can deliver quality Christian programs to radio stations across North America, Central America, South America and Spain.
HCJB Global Voice’s main satellite, ALAS-HCJB, operates out of Latin America. It has 125 outlets in 16 countries and sends international productions to more than 500 outlets across Latin America and Spain. Since 1931, HCJB Global has been using radio to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ. HCJB Global currently operates local AM and FM stations in Ecuador, producing Christian programs that are distributed via satellite and the Internet across Latin America.
Whether programs are aired via shortwave, AM, FM, satellite, or the Internet, radio continues to be an effective, efficient way of reaching into peoples' homes and changing lives. Radio is able to cross borders, going where missionaries cannot, sharing Christ’s hope with people who are unable to read or would never set foot in a church.
