A Working Area
when working with computers you should always make sure that you're working in an open and clear zone without hazards, this will ensure that you are safe and not in any danger with hazards.

when using a computer system you must put in on a solid and flat surface
Repairing a computer
when repairing a computer, you should always make sure that you fully understand the situation before you start fixing or replacing a system. make sure everything is functioning properly before replacing.

Before a repair can take place they would usually require personal permission to repair, replace components or equipment.

Most companies have polices about the levels of permissions required for the repairs or replacing them, there may also be a fee.

You should always record all information when troubleshooting or repairing any device.

You should Ideally keep a log book. A log book would have all the required info, for example it would have the date of the repairs if possible, the date the incident occurred, the identity of the computer and cost of repair. License and Product key details in case you need to reinstall software at a later date

Main Computer Security
Having security on your computer is critical do keeping all of your data stored safe.
There are many things you should should consider about your data. There is many ways where things can go wrong such as you losing the data, corruption or deletion
Make sure that the room your working in has a Fire Extinguisher, this will make sure that in case of a fire or an emergency that you will be able to put out the fire and make sure that your working environment is safe.

PAT Testing
PAT Testing, meaning portable appliance tests.
All public devices require a PAT test label like this one to legally be able to use the device to show it is not dangerous.

All IT equipment requires PAT testing from the monitor, to power cables it all needs to be tested. Any device that requires to be plugged into a socket or a power source would require PAT testing and you would know if it has been teste via the label.
ESD - Static Wrist Strap
Electro Static Discharge, ESD can do to damage or destroy an individuals computer or hardware components.

The best method of preventing ESD is to use an ESD wrist strap, grounding mat, or grounding workbench. However, because most users do not have access to such items, we advise to hold the metal casing at all times as an earth.
First Aid
Ensure you are familiar with the location and stocks
within the first aid kit.

this will ensure that if their is an emergency then you will act immediately.
Computers are not plugged in
this is because their would be power surging through out the computer system and when your touching components you might get a shock or worse leading to serious damage to yourself.


When your working with computer systems you will want to make sure that its not plugged in when the computer system is open.

Backing Up and Recovery
Having software that backs up and recovers data on your computer is critical to keeping all of your data safe.

In a scenario, You might have a computer system that went corrupt but you have a back up and you can recover your system. You will gain all you personal data back such as images, videos, documents.

if you didn't back up you would not have all your data and would have lost everything that's why Backing up data is important.

Anti-Virus
Ensure that your system has an Anti-Virus Package installed.

This will ensure that your protect from threats such as Viruses and Trojans trying to steal potential data or corrupt your system.
Physical Security
Physical security is very important and is an essential with your computer system.

This is because it will stop someone for stealing your computer system so using locks on doors, have a lock on your computer so its chained or strapped down will stop these threats.
