In 1807 the British parliament abolished or stopped the buying and selling of slaves. Thousands of slaves settled in Canada through the Underground Railroad.
The first companies in Canada were formed by british groups and they competed for the fur trade. Hudson Bay company ran the trade and it was made of British, French and aborignal people.
