What are the Layers of the Earth?
Scientists study how seismic waves travel through Earth. If there is an earthquake, they measure how fast they travel and how far apart they are from each other.
What properties are utilized to identify and define the layers of Earth?
Why does Earth have layers?
The Earth has different layers, because depending on the state of matter of which each layer is, they float on top of one another. If one layer is made of heavier elements, than it will float on top of the other layers .
The Crust is a thin rocky surface
The Mantle is rock hard and moves slow
The Outer Core is made up of iron and nickel and is very hot
The Inner Core is soliod ball made up of iron and nickle

The earths lithosphere is a solid, it is also
a rigid outer shell. It's made of constant moving
plates, and solid rock. It is also a level
above the mantle.
The solid asthenosphere flows like a liquid due to the great pressures from the overlying rock burden.
The state of matter at the Asthenosphere is solid rock which can be located at the end of the Earth's mantle
