Club drugs come in different forms and are used for different purposes. Ecstasy is a small colored pill that are often stamped with a picture or a person's face. It may also come in crystal or powdered form and occasionally a liquid. Ecstasy is used to create an artificial feeling of empathy, meaning that they make the "taker" will feel close to someone they don't know or just met. The effects last for 3-6 hours. People who take it will become overheated and dehydrated, so clubs usually have a cool room with high air-conditioning and cold water. Also addiction to Ecstasy happens really fast.
There are some drugs that are central nervous system (CNS) depressants. GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyric acid or gamma-hydroxybutyrate) is one of them. It can be administered as a liquid, pill, capsule or powder. Since GHB is a CNS depressant, it slows the heart and breathing to potentially dangerous levels. GHB is a sedative. It also causes euphoria and anesthesia. It is mainly used recreationally or as a date rape drug because it gives a feeling of relaxation. These effects can last up to 4 hours. When GHB is mixed with alcohol, the effects are even more dangerous.
Some club drugs can make you forget your thoughts and identity. Club drugs are also used for rape dates, a person raped after given Ketamine may not even remember that it happened. Ketamine might be used if you had a bad car crash and you can't move, emergency medical technicians would give you a drug called Ketamine because it will relax you.
A Club drug called LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) quickly causes distortions to perceptions of light, space, sound and time. A person may suffer a panic attack because he doesn't have the ability to control his perceptions or environment, this can lead to dangerous behavior.
