LO: To be able to identify the features of scary stories

CO: To start creating my own scary story

Starter:

Write down everything you expect to see in a haunted house story
The Haunted Mansion
Task:
Imagine you are standing at the gate of this house.
Write one paragraph to set the scene, use your senses to make your writing more interesting!
Criteria:
What can you see?
What can you hear?
What can you smell?
What can you feel?
What can you taste? (e.g. fear? Sweat? Blood?)

Verbs
Similies
Example:
The moon was shining straight on me like I was in the spotlight. Something rustled in the darkness. I stared and could see...
We are going to watch 10 minutes of the film The Haunted House
Add to your list or mind map anything you missed out
You can use a mind map or bullet points
