Key problems and Symptoms
Key problems and Symptoms
Vasyl Anastasisa Kitty Camille
Problems of
Team Members Competency
Team members did not try to cooperate with each other

Different ways of constructing documents made difficult process of coming up with single document

Different ways of communication were used, what caused misunderstanding

Problems of
Team Members Competency
There is no empathy from anyone in the team. Everyone is stressed because of others

5.Conflict resolving
There were no tries to analyze relationships as well as team conflict. Therefore, this stage is missed.
Pooled interdependence

Sequential interdependence

Reciprocal interdependence

(highest level of responsibility and interdependence)

1. Provide face to face meetings for accounting team

2. Establish common norms for structuring financial statements

3. Use the same medium for exchanging information

4. Assign leader for the team

Switch of Task Interdependence

1.Encoding and decoding

Communication channel proficiency is better when:
Sender and receiver are motivated
They able to communicate through channel
Effectiveness increases with skill

Selection of communication channel depends on required media richness for completing the task
Communication Process
Media richness of the mediums
2. Similar codebooks: these are dictionaries of symbols, gestures, language, idioms.

3. Shared mental models of the communication context: same internal representations of external world. This could have been developed through arranging face-to-face meetings with team members.

4. Experience encoding the message: develops with gaining experience with the subject matter. Didn’t develop due to lack of communication between group members

Differentiation between group members ( different knowledge, values, beliefs and experience)

High task interdependence but low media richness.

Scarce resources : time consuming

Ambiguous rules: members weren’t presented to any set of rules before working together.

Communication problems: employees used different means of communication; time differences made communication limited.

1. Failed to choose best handling style. Conflict management was poor, as most of the team members didn’t want to cooperate.

2. Conflict outcome: negative. The situation had a stressful impact on each member. There was no motivation to work with each other later on. The performance was low, as it consumed lots of time, but the outcome wasn’t satisfying.

Communication Process
Switch from the low interdependence to high interdependence has caused failures in team work beginning with exorbitant time consuming and ending by conflict between people and low performance. So, these serious problems can be solely solved by company by establishing norms for every part of people interaction.
