A CLOSER LOOK
THE BIG PICTURE
If you can see God's glory more clearly in contrast to my sin, why are you condemning me? The more I sin, the better you see the glory of God, right? (v. 7 & 8)
NOBODY, ANYWHERE, IS, OR EVER WAS,
ABRAHAM is the Father of Nations through faith in the promises of God
Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways, and the way of peace they do not know.
Romans 3:14 &
Romans 3:17 &
There is no fear of God before their eyes.
Romans 3:18 &
. . . even "the best people" are sinners
Christ purchased our redemption on the cross, thus "buying" righteousness for us
God gives righteousness to the whole world because of Jesus - not just to Jews
He gives His righteousness to anyone and everyone who believes in Jesus
Abraham leaves Ur & goes to Canaan
Abraham believes God, and it is credited to him as righteousness (v.6)
God promises Abraham he will have countless offspring (v.5)
God makes the covenant of blood with Abraham (v. 9-17)
God promises Abraham he will give him the land of Canaan (v. 18)
The covenant of circumcision (v.1-14)
The Chapter 15 covenant fulfilled through Isaac, not Ishmael (v. 19)
Christ's righteousness (purchased on the cross) is given to us by God's grace
We receive Christ's righteousness through faith, as Abraham did - not by works, by genetics, or by physical act
