Transcript of "I AM LAERTES' SON..."

The goal of Odysseus in this story is a compound objective. First, Odysseus attempts to coax his men back out to sea after a successful raid in order to escape the angered army. After successfully escaping, his priorities shift to trying to survive the ruthless gales thrown at him by Zeus.

RESPONSE
CONSEQUENCE
Different obstacles accompany the existing compound goals, each issue tailored to an individual goal. Starting with the foremost event, the raid. After pulling off an attack, greed overcomes Odysseus's men, making them sluggish in returning to sea. They linger enough to allow the towns angered army to arrive, costing them the loss of a few men. However, after escaping, things get a supernatural twist. Odysseus has managed to anger Zeus, and must survive the storm sent to sink his ship by Zeus's hand.

Odysseus retells his story after listening to a minstrel sing of his travels. After revealing his identity, Odysseus begins his tale. He starts with the successful raid of a seacoast village. Greed and Sloth overtake his crew, and they linger enough to allow the now angered army of the town to retaliate. After trading the loss of some men for escape, they head to sea. There, Odysseus and his crew must face Zeus, whom Odysseus had earlier angered.
