Mechanical engineers going into jobs with alternative energy or advanced technology are predicted to have the best employment opportunities. A prototype of a race car going along a straight track is programmed to speed up from rest and decelerates after it crosses the finish line. The rate of its velocity during the car's journey is given by r(t)=(-.35x^3)+(4.2x^2)-.10x. Find how far it traveled in the time it took to get to the finish line (in meters). If the finish line is 50 meters away, is the prototype effective? If not, think about what can be done to improve it. A machine can make x type 1 wheels and y type 2 wheels a day. The profit on type 2 is 1.55 times type 1, and
y= (.5x^3)/3 - 6x^2 + 77.5x. How many of each should be made to maximize the profit? -Mechanical engineers typically begin in an office. They meet with other engineer, marketing, sales, and executive professionals to begin a project.
-Mechanical engineers do computer-aided drafting (CAD) to design a product or device.
-Next, they create and test prototypes. Revisions are made until the final product is ready to be produced.
-Mechanical engineers originally oversee the production team to give support or instruction during the manufacturing process.
