HAIR General Info.
ECONOMY
The United States had a burst of inflation in the 1970s because until the 1980s no influential policy makers until Paul Volcker became Chairman of the Federal Reserve who placed a sufficiently high priority on stopping inflation.
The policies of the 1960s left economic policy makers of the 1970s with painful dilemmas. They were "Dealt with bad cards" These "bad cards" mixed with bad luck led to high inflation.
The last cause was that the great depression made it hard to believe that the business cycle was a fluctuation around rather than a shortfall below potential output and potential employment.
In 1869 the employment was around 80 million workers. By the end of the 70s, it was more than 96 million workers. This was an increase of over 16 million more workers. It went from 3.3 percent unemployment to around 8 percent unemployment, nearly reaching another depression.
energy shortage occurred because of a worldwide oil shortage. Nations around the world started to conserve their non-renewable oil supplies in hopes to have some still available in the near future
Individual Income Tax. Reduced individual taxes (widened tax brackets and reduced number of tax rates).
Personal Exemption. Increased personal exemption amount from $750 to $1,000.
Corporate Tax. Reduced corporate tax rates (top rate dropped from 48% to 46%).
Standard Deduction. Increased standard deduction from $3,200 to $3,400 for joint filers.
Capital Gains. Increased capital gains exclusion from 50% to 60%.
State and Local Taxes. Repealed nonbusiness deduction for state and local gasoline taxes.
Television
American families often gathered together to watch Television shows
1970's feathered hairstyle.

Nothing screams 1970's quite like feathered hair.
Glamorous and edgy
For both long or short hair

In the 1970s everyone wanted a 'natural' look
and the stuffy, stiff, hair sprayed styles of the 60's was gone.
No more FAKE looks like spraying your hair
until you couldn't breathe or making it big, molded and puffy.
carefree.
Women tried to keep their locks as long, smooth
and sleek as possible
easier to fix.

Most shags are heavily layered, so use the
hair dryer to give it plenty of lift if your hair is flat.
Color is one more way to highlight and
accentuate this unique style.

1970'S Styles
Straight and Sleek

There were no straightening irons in the 1970's so women had to use a regular clothing iron to straighten their hair.

Girls actually took turns ironing each others hair, inch by inch careful not to

Wedge

The wedge hairstyle gained popularity in the 1970's, when Olympic figure skater Dorothy Hamill won a gold medal

It's 70's spin on the classic bob, with hair closer to the neck cut a bit longer than higher layers.

The Shag

The shag is a layered haircut
The hair is cut with many layers to give it a kind of messy or 'shaggy' look.
consisting of layers at the base of the head as well as the top of the head, along with full bangs.
Disco craze emerges
"The Hustle"

The Feathered Look

easy hairstyle to achieve.
blow dry your hair in an up and under motion to get more volume, body
through your hair, blow dry around the face to get that softer feathered look.

The Afro

hair extends out from the head like a cloud or ball.
This may or may not include wearing such afros long, to several times the size
of the head.

The 1970
The 1970's weren’t just about disco music and funny hairstyles, it was also about cuisine cooking. It was during this decade that chefs started to cook in the cuisine style. This style was very fancy. There were several types of cuisine cooking including Californian cuisine and Nouvelle Cuisine. Cuisine cooking was so popular that French chefs started to abandon their traditional ways of cooking for the Nouvelle cooking style.

Interesting facts about food during this decade are- the opening of the first "salad bar" and the first Starbucks coffeehouse.
In the 1970's women chose who they wanted to be.
It was a journey to freedom.
Some of the dresses were flashy/glamorous/some not.Fashion in the 1970s was daring, carefree, and diverse.
skirts ranged from extremely long to short fabrics were bright and boldly patterned.
Men's fashion = more bold
The hippie influence of the late 1960s crossed into the fashion
For men, colorful ties and bright, fitted shirts with big collars.
'Hippie' styles of dress entered the mainstream
Flared trousers were popular with both men and women throughout the decade
Makeup
Although Nixon initially escalated the war in Vietnam, he subsequently ended US involvement in 1973. Nixon's visit to the People's Republic of China in 1972 opened diplomatic relations between the two nations, and he initiated détente and the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty with the Soviet Union the same year. Domestically, his administration generally embraced policies that transferred power from Washington to the states. Among other things, he initiated wars on cancer and drugs, imposed wage and price controls, enforced desegregation of Southern schools and established the Environmental Protection Agency. Though he presided over Apollo 11, he scaled back manned space exploration. He was reelected by a landslide in 1972.

Nixon's second term saw an Arab oil embargo, the resignation of his vice president, Spiro Agnew, and a continuing series of revelations about the Watergate scandal. The scandal escalated, costing Nixon much of his political support, and on August 9, 1974, he resigned in the face of almost certain impeachment and removal from office. After his resignation, he was controversially issued a pardon by his successor, Gerald Ford.

He became the only President of the United States who was never elected President nor Vice-President by the Electoral College.U.S. involvement in Vietnam essentially ended. Domestically, Ford presided over arguably the weakest economy since the Great Depression, with growing inflation and a recession during his presidency.U.S. involvement in Vietnam essentially ended. One of his more controversial acts was to grant a presidential pardon to President Richard Nixon for his role in the Watergate scandal. During Ford's incumbency, foreign policy was characterized in procedural terms by the increased role Congress began to play, and by the corresponding curb on the powers of the President.[3] In 1976, Ford narrowly defeated Ronald Reagan for the Republican nomination, but lost the presidential election to Democrat Jimmy Carter
During Carter's term as President, two new cabinet-level departments were created: the Department of Energy and the Department of Education. He established a national energy policy that included conservation, price control, and new technology. In foreign affairs, Carter pursued the Camp David Accords, the Panama Canal Treaties, the second round of Strategic Arms Limitation Talks (SALT II), and returned the Panama Canal Zone to Panama. Throughout his career, Carter strongly emphasized human rights. The end of his presidential career was marked by the 1979–1981 Iran hostage crisis, the 1979 energy crisis, the Three Mile Island nuclear accident, the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan (at the end of 1979), 1980 Summer Olympics boycott by the United States of the Moscow Olympics and the 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens.
