Transcript of cloud computing
On-demand network access to a shared computing resources
But, who said it first
that is elsewhere, in "the cloud" of remote networks
Some trace the birth of the term to 2006...
Large companies began using “cloud computing” to describe people accessing to software, computer power, and files over the Web instead of on their desktops.
In late 1996 a Compaq Computer office (Huston) began talking about the future of the Internet business called “cloud computing.”
What are we going to talk about?
What is Cloud Computing?
How to choose?
Other Internet-based services (IBS)
Benefits & limitations
Use an application without installing it
Build applications without buying the hardware or maintaining the software
Hardware capacities as demanded to run own software services
How to choose it?
Something similar back in the 70's
Bureau Computer Services
Control of data security
Reliance on third parties
Who owns the data?
How will affect other industries?
Amazon web services
Data control and
Trust on providers
Universities and Schools
Business and research
IT Cost Savings
Small to Medium
Collaboration made easy
Empowerment and accessibility of current technology
Previously inaccessible or too expensive
Large datasets requiring substantial
processing power to process
Power down servers not in use automatically
From this to ...
Driverless cars and trucks
Internet of Things
Advanced Machine Learning
How you host it?
Long term viability

Despite having a lot of cost/benefits, there are still issues and concerns such as around security that need to be addressed fully.
In addition, cloud computing is a fully utilised technology
(or will be shortly).
However, some aspects are still developing...
