Let's Learn All About Humperdinck He is a German Composer! He also had a sister named Adelheid! His father was a school teacher who wrote poetry and loved fantasy stories.

His mother was a singer and had a beautiful voice. She taught him how to play piano. Adelheid loved to write poetry and
Engelbert used to add music to her poems to create songs An opera is when a story told on stage with only singing (little or no speaking)! Humperdinck wrote lots of music!
However, his most famous piece is an opera. This opera was actually a collaboration with his sister! One day, her children were trying to create a puppet show of the story of Hansel & Gretl, but they were having some problems with what to say. Adelheid decided to write some poems that they could use and then she begged her brother to write music so that they could be sung.

It was originally nothing more than a family play – that had such great success it turned into a famous opera. Engelbert Humperdinck Born: September 1, 1854
