What is the School to Prison Pipeline?
Historical Context
Influence of race, class, and gender
The school to prison pipeline disproportionately impacts the poor, students with disabilities, and youth of color (especially African Americans)
The result of larger social and political trends
read about African American and Hispanic males as dangerous criminals and assume as typical (victim=White)
False.

Often children that are pulled into this pipeline have learning disabilities, troubled upbringings (including a history of poverty, abuse, neglect, etc.)
The School to Prison Pipeline is a highly controversial topic in today's education system, as well as in general observation. It effects many youth, the criminal justice system, and is tied to many other fields-- making it an issue eclectic in nature.

Though there have been many discussions on ending zero tolerance, with every incident of shootings, and violence in schools, policies become reaffirmed.
Two years ago was the first federal hearing on the school-to-prison pipeline.
