Ancient China By: Breanna and Rachel

Ancient China was located in Asia. Some physical features in ancient China are the Yellow River, Yangtze River, Himalaya Mountains, Gobi Desert and the Taklamakan Desert. The Yellow River and Yangtze River were the 2 biggest rivers which flowed between central China. Himalaya Mountains are the tallest mountains in the world. The Gobi Desert and also the Taklamakan Desert were the world's biggest deserts. China almost has the same weather as Canada because there is all different kinds of weather in China like Himalaya Mountains is mostly always cold and Gobi Desert and Taklamakan Desert is mostly always hot. The time period goes back more than 3000 years ago.
Location, physical features, climate and time period thrived
They played checkmate, a roll of the dice, chinese lanterns, idle amusement, quick sticks, playing card, and high as a kite. Some stuff they celebrated was the Spring Festival(Chinese New Year), Lantern Festival, Qingming Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, The Night of Sevens Festival, Moon Festival, Double Ninth Festival, and also the Winter Solstice Festival. Some weapons they used were Gong, Qiang, Jian, Gun, Yue, Nu, Dao, and Fu.
They invented silk, paper, printing, compass, gunpowder, boat rudder, umbrella, wheel barrow , iron casting, hot air balloons, seismograph to measure earthquakes, kites, matches, stirrups for riding horses. The compass was also a technology in ancient China.
Inventions & Technology Advances
Some food they ate were rice porridge, rice, oranges, peaches, lemons, soy beans, tofu, cucumbers tea leaves and apricots. In the northern China it was too cold to farm, so they didn't farm that much. The homes in China were mostly made out of timber, bamboo and bulrush. Homes in Southern China were mostly made out of bamboo. The main article of clothing was that ancient China people wear robes that have dragon and clouds on it. It was mostly worn by the emperor and it was worn for good luck fortune. The robes were made out of silk and also cotton.
Physical Needs - Food, Homes, and Clothing
They made lots of signs and characters that represent words. They also drew signs and characters so it looks like the objects and/or characters so people know what they are trying to say or what they mean because they didn't have an exact language yet like we do now.
Written Language
Some social hierarchies are Shang Class, Gong Class, Nong Class, Shi Class and King. The life of a woman was very hard because they had no choice of who they want to marry and the life of a man was that the Chinese family was ruled by the father, his wife and children had to obey him. Young girls had their feet painfully bound to prevent their feet for growing and young boys went to school. During recess they do relaxation exercises. The people who rely on hunting for their livelihood are good at climbing, wrestling, jumping and also good at shooting.
Social Hierarchy, Family Roles, Education, Recreation/Sports
People believed the dragons brought happiness and good fortune. Some temples are the Xingjian Temple and the Confucian Temple. Three major religion or philosophies shaped many of the ideas and history of ancient China. They are called the three ways that include Taoism, Confucianism, and Buddhism.
Values & Beliefs
Some famous structures are the Forbidden City, Confucian Temple, Xian City Wall, Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, the Temple of Heaven and also the Great Wall of China. Some famous emperors were Gao Yang, Yang Guang, Suna Hao, Zhoa Ji, and also Chen Shu Bao.
