HARRIET TUBMAN "I looked at my hands to see if I was the same person now that I was free.
There was such glory over everything."-Harriet Tubman, crossing into the
free state of Pennsylvania "I never run my train off the track and I never lost a passenger." KEY TERMS Conducter-a person who led runaways to freedom IMPORTANT PEOPLE Harriet Tubman-A famous female conductor SOCIAL It effects the slaves owners that were escaping. If the owners wanted to sell the slaves they couldn't if the slaves escaped first. Harriet Tubman helped slaves escape and become free. Becoming free was important to slaves because they no longer had owners that over ruled them. Most slaves fled to the North Importance In History Summary A few years after getting beaten by an overseer, Harriet escaped to Pennsylvania. She escaped knowing that if she didn't she would've been sold. She became a successful conductor that led 19 journeys to freedom for slaves
