What is it?
Black out poetry is created by removing words in a text with a marker, leaving behind selected words, or phrases, to create a poem.
Simple Examples
Where to start?
- Select a page
- Read the page
- Review and find your Anchor words
- What are Anchor words?
- Words or Phrases that stand out to you
Becoming the poet
- Mark your anchor words
- You can circle, square, or underline in pencil, it is all up to you
- Start to mark out all the other words, but do not mark out your anchors
