Transcript of Oceans
The abyssal zone is the deep sea, where there is no light
The covers 300,000,000 square km
What is the Benthic Zone?
The Benthic Zone is the ecological region at the lowest level of a body of water such as an ocean or a lake, including the sediment surface and some sub-surface layers
It's all the ocean that's not near the coast nor near the bottom of the sea.
Is the area between Land and the sea that is covered by water at a high tide and uncovered at the low tide.
by: Sonia S. & Ruby U.
It has four different subdivisions based on the amount of water exposure each gets.
Purple shoreline crab
Organisms that live in this layer are called benthos.
These animals can't survive in the other layers of water.
Majority of the animals are scavengers or detritus feeders (eat decomposing organic matter).
Fish hide/bury themselves in the bottom
