BACKGROUND
CASE SUMMARY
Outstanding company with more than 100 branches operating worldwide, Paychex Inc. is a trusted hand in handling payroll, human resources and benefits outsourcing for all walks of industries levels. Located in New York, Rochester, Paychex Inc. had measure the performance toward the work results of account executives which typically require to fulfill the requirement in order to account manager meet their aims. Account manager are the one that responsible with company’s sales and well-alert upon payroll sales and yet responsible on company’s retail. However, the one that responsible behind the scenes of account manager’s objectives is account executives whom vow to the responsibilities
CASE STUDY QUESTION
1. Based on the above description, asses whether Paychex should use a behavior approach, a result approach or a combination of both to measure performance.
QUESTION 1
Based on the description that stated in the case study, the best approach is that Paychex use a combination of both results and behaviors when measuring performance. This is because it is true that sales should be used as a main measure tools to measure performance.
In addition, since the account executive’s manager is not always able to observe their performance, then the company will have to infer that obtaining sales quotas is due to the account executive engaging in the appropriate behaviors.
However, the importance of developing good relationships within the industry is also extremely important, and the results of doing so may not pay off immediately or translate directly into sales.

From the table, the approach that can be applied to the job of account executive is the result approach because of the following circumstances as following.

d. There are many ways to do the job right
