Salary
It is very hard to find salary for Video game designers as the annual incomes depends on several factors such as where you work, who you work for, as well as what level designer you are.
Fresh designers make about $37,000 anually
3D animators make about $50,000 - $60,000
Project managers and producers with experience make between $80,000 - $100,000
Lead game developers make between
$150,000 - $250,000
Working Conditions
According to the Bureau of Labor, the main work-related injuries that occur in this field are
carpal tunnel syndrome and musculoskeletal strain. Special chairs and keyboards are available
to reduce the risk of these problems.
The main work environment for this career is a comfortable office or cubical. Some companies even allow telecommuting.
The type of equipment used in this field is mainly a computer. If the developer is working on a game for a console such as a play station or xbox then the company might provide them with a development kit to work on.
Work hours are normally very long, about 65-80 hours a week. It is a very stressful job and many employed in this field, as a result, have relationship problems and/or stress related illnesses.
