Ancient Greece has influenced modern society in ways that can't be debated. If it were not for their ideas and concepts, we would live in vastly different world.
Alpha and Omega are commonly used and known today. Some letters are used in college sororities as symbols. It is the first alphabet to use vowels.
First known use of tragedy comes from Greece. This has greatly influenced the way we watch and develop plays, movies, and television shows today.
Athens was the first place to ever use a democracy. Today, the concept of democracy is implemented in America and affects our lives every day.
Can be traced back to Olympia in 776 B.C. It began as a ceremony to evaluate who was superior and as an honor to the gods. Today, the Olympics are a massive pulp culture event and those who participate come from practically all countries.
Ancient Greece was home to many who have changed our world today. Among these people was Plato. His works can be seen as the influence in many works of literature today.

Ancient Greece implemented the idea that each part of a structure was important. This is why many pieces of their architecture, such as the Parthenon, can be found today. These remaining structures have helped our world build and design for over the past two millenniums.
Part of the reason Ancient Greek buildings have survived the centuries is the incredible design of their main support, the columns. Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian can be spotted around the world.
Today's education is not directly influenced by the Greeks' education, but rather by their society as a whole. Today, education involves the alphabet, government, science and math, and philosophy. These are topics that all of which can be traced back to Ancient Greece.
The Greeks were some of the first to look into reason rather than religion for explanation of our world's beginning. This research sparked the creation of ethics and epistemology.
Ancient Greeks would often go to the theater for entertainment to see plays over politics. This is huge today on shows such as SNL. They also used time to farm and create foods. Just imagine a world without olive oil.
